Two Capitols – One Synod

Thursday, February 12 was Faith Action Network’s Interfaith Advocacy Day in Olympia! I’m grateful for the pre-sessions, their weekly updates, the welcome today, and all of the work behind the scenes all year long. As the bishop of NWIM Synod, I’m particularly grateful for your attention to issues impacting residents of Central and Eastern Washington. Check out photo captions for more.

State district 7 is huge geographically compared to many districts on the West Side

From the 1991 Social Statement Church in Society

“The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is called to be a part of the ecumenical Church of Jesus Christ in the context in which God has placed it—a diverse, divided, and threatened global society on a beautiful, fragile planet. In faithfulness to its calling, this church is committed to defend human dignity, to stand with poor and powerless people, to advocate justice, to work for peace, and to care for the earth in the processes and structures of contemporary society.”

Tuesday, February 17 was Food Insecurity Day at the Idaho State Capitol. I was honored to be here with Pr Lewis from Immanuel, Boise (weekly community meal) and Sunshine from Hope, Eagle (Give Hope Food Pantry). I also caught up with Kevin Bailey from the Idaho Nonprofit Center and Community Foundation. Another week, another capitol.
